Taxation Without Representation – with Tamika Spellman

May 6, 2022

Recent Stories That Matter to the Movement

This week we’re talking about two new online reporting programs, only one of which we believe will actually keep sex workers safe. We’re also discussing the development of a new sex worker safety plan in Canada, the Chippendales lobbying for a pandemic-era program for the live event industry, and another update on the Stripper Strike in North Hollywood.

Our special guest this week is Tamika Spellman, the Advocacy Manager of the harm reduction organization HIPS DC. Old Pros News host and writer, Lakeesha Harris, was honored to welcome Tamika Spellman to chat about about the #DECRIMNOW campaign and why we need to center — and pay! — black trans women in the movement. Following the interview, Lakeesha will fill us in on recent sex work related legislation in Louisiana and Ohio, and why she feels like the government just doesn’t want us to survive!
