Miss Major Griffin-Gracy
After being mis-gendered and housed with male inmates, Miss Major Griffin-Gracy became one of the key negotiators in the Attica Prison Riots in 1971 and went on to work as an advocate for trans women’s rights within the prison system.
Miss Major Griffin-Gracy also participated in the Stonewall Riots and eventually founded the The Griffin-Gracy Educational Retreat & Historical Center (a.k.a. “House of GG”), an organization dedicated to preserving and celebrating the stories of trans people throughout history. She’s lived a full life that we can all learn from and be inspired by.
This episode is hosted by Kaytlin Bailey and Wendi Starling, and features Ceyenne Doroshow.
