The O’Farrell Theatre began showing pornographic films in 1969 and successsy fought prosecution challenging the legal definition of obscenity in the 1970s. Over the years, the Mitchells were the defendants in over 200 court cases involving obscenity aggressvily defending themselves and the right to free speech.
