Job Description

Old Pro Productions is looking for talent to host an upcoming, ongoing project.

Old Pro Productions is a multimedia production company dedicated to changing the stories people tell about sex work. Our flagship project is season three of The Oldest Profession Podcast.

We are hiring someone who will host a new weekly news podcast about stories that impact the sex worker community. This person will be the primary face of the podcast so experience and interest embodying a brand on social media is important. We are looking for a host that is comfortable in front of a microphone speaking to a wide variety of audiences.

Because this is a weekly news-based podcast, the host should demonstrate an interest in journalism, audio, and media production. The host will also need to write 5 – 7 minute run downs of the week’s news, so experience writing for performance is a plus.

Requirements & Preferences

• Demonstrated interest and a passion for the mission of the project is a must!
• Experience working remotely in collaboration with a team is a must.
• Either access to a recording studio or a willingness to record yourself with provided equipment is required.
• Ideal candidates will be self motivated, driven, and accountable to deliverables.
• Ideal candidates will be connected to sex worker advocacy networks, locally and nationally. Global sex worker network connections are highly valued.
• Experience in journalism, policy advocacy, public education, or news media is preferred but not required.
• Experience and comfort moderating panels and discussions is highly valued.
• Fluency in English required. Fluency in additional languages is highly valued.
• POC, trans, and non-binary current and former sex workers encouraged to apply.

About the Job

• $25 an hour, estimated 20-25 hours a week. This role is a contract position.
• Identify sex worker groups and work with them to stay up to date on the stories they want to tell.
• Attend monthly (virtual) meetings with the entire Old Pro Productions team, weekly meetings with the podcast team.
• Work with producers, correspondents, and sources on developing stories.
• Set up Google Alerts, and join mailings lists to stay up to date with sex worker rights related news from around the world, with a special interest in the United States.
• Use cloud based tools such as Google Docs and Airtable to collaborate remotely.
• Most of the team is based in NYC or LA, but we are open to working remotely with people who are located anywhere.

Project & Job Description

Old Pro Productions, Inc. is a multimedia production company dedicated to changing the stories people tell about sex work. Our flagship project is The Oldest Profession Podcast, we also facilitate the #OldProProject, produce a weekly newsletter, monthly panel, and special events like the Celebration of Life for Margo St. James. We are developing two upcoming documentary projects, a weekly sex worker rights news show, and two live shows, Old Pro Show and Whore’s Eye View.

We need someone who can help us track pitches, promotion, and update our production calendar, CRM, and social media. We are hiring someone who can commit to learning and applying systems to help produce and promote a variety of content and events.

Starting rate is $25 an hour, 15 – 25 hours a week. 

Requirements & Preferences

• Initiate and track podcast, press, and promotion pitches
• Update CRM weekly
• Keep content calendar updated
• Prepare and send promotion packages for podcasts, guest appearances, social media, newsletter content, and events
• Collaborate on social media posts
• Update monthly team meeting presentation
• Update WordPress websites, including SEO and new posts
• Knowledge of: WordPress, SEO, Canva, AirTable, Clickup, Later, InShot, Mojo, YouTube, Instagram

Ideal Candidates:

• Ability to Google processes you don’t know and read or watch tutorials before asking for assistance
• Detail oriented
• Strong writing and proofreading skills
• Self motivated, driven, and accountable to deliverables
• Comfort working remotely in collaboration with a team is a must
• Demonstrated interest and a passion for the mission of the project is a must!
• POC, trans, and non-binary current and former sex workers encouraged to apply

About the Job

• $20 an hour 15 – 20 hours a week to start. We expect this to develop into a $25 an hour 25 – 35 hour job by the end of the summer. 
• Attend monthly (virtual) meetings with the entire Old Pro, Inc team
• Weekly (virtual) meeting with a team member you report to
• Work with the production and promotion team
• Use cloud based tools such as Google Docs and Airtable to collaborate remotely
