Compton’s Cafeteria, 101 Taylor St, San Francisco, CA 94102
After the police were called to remove trans youth from Compton’s Cafeteria a young trans woman threw a cup of coffee in a police officers face and the cafeteria erupted into a riot. This was one of many incidents that prededed the more well known, and well documented, Stonewall Riot in New York City in 1969.
